Wonder litterary Essay Draft 2

Essay

Determining on how you look at it,  The Book Wonder (The Book Wonder) by R.J Palacio (R.J Palacio)  is about treating others nicely, diversity, kindness, and treating others how you would like to be treated A.K.A the golden rule (Golden Rule).    If everybody treated August like he was a nobody because of his facial deformity (Deformity) he would feel bad and wouldn’t go to school anymore (Kid staying home). Don’t judge a boy by his face.  Wonder is about treating people no matter what they’re face looks like (Diverse group of people).  They could be very nice but if you don’t give them a chance they won’t be able to show it.  It doesn’t matter if they’re deformed or mentally challenged (Mentally challenged person) just remember to always be nice.  If we were never nice and always mean, nobody would have friends (Two friends).  In wonder people are mean to August and Jack (Bullies) because August is different and Jack is friends with him.

Auggie doesn't want to go to school  (School) but then changes his mind.  It gets different when his dad starts to want him to go and his mom doesn't.  I think this is because his dad doesn't want him to back down from a challenge and his mom doesn't want him to get hurt.  Auggie just wants to persevere and get through the school year.  He loses his motivation when he hears Jack making fun of him on Halloween (Halloween Picture).  This causes Auggie to stay home during Halloween night because he is sad, but Halloween is Auggie’s favorite holiday because when he wears a mask (Mask) he blends in and is just like every other kid.  But when he misses Halloween he feels like he will never be normal and he has to just live with his deformity (Person With Deformity).

When he is attacked by bullies at camp (Camp) his soon to be friends stick up for him and protect him.  Then when he is walking back to the movie (Movie Theater) and his friends surround him he realizes that he has made friends (Friends) for life and he doesn't have to worry about his face.  I think this proves that you can accomplish anything in life as long as you persevere towards you're goal, you can achieve it.

I think that if you look back when Auggie says he doesn't want to go to school.  But at the end it tells us that he graduated (Graduation Hat) and is very happy (Smiley Face).  This shows how Auggie accomplished his goal.  I think Auggie poses as a role model for the readers (People Reading) about how if you  persevere you can accomplish you're goal!  The meaning of the book (Book) is to not judge (Judge) a boy by his face but, not just that also...  To not judge  someone by what they weigh (Weighing Scale), or what they smell  (Nose) like, etc.  For example when Julian said “Were you like, in a fire (Fire) or something?”  That is judging a boy by his face.  Julian is acting as the enemy when he makes fun of Auggie.

At the end of the book, when August goes home (Home) he is determined to start a new personality of not looking at all the bad things in life but all the good things to come!  I think that August has made a journey through the book.  All the obstacles (Obstacles) he has had to overcome, some are bad and some are good.
On page 272 August is being "escorted" back to the crowd (Crowd)  but Amos, Miles, Henry, and Jack were walking around him and he states, "Like I had my own emperor's guard." (Emperor's Guard)  This is because they don't want August to be teased or stared at so they protect him.  August realizes he is finally like any other kid; nobody is paying attention it's like he isn't even there.
